godlovespoetry:

This past Saturday, February 26th, we joined nearly 100 voices to counter-protest a planned Fort Lauderdale appearance from the Westboro Baptist Church. The picket was to be held outside Living Arts Studio before a scheduled function of “The Laramie Project.” Thirty minutes into the energetic counter-protest, police confirmed that the hate group were not going to show up after all.
And there was even more good news: students from Nova Southeastern University’s Student Coalition for Human Rights: GLBT Subcommittee printed out large versions of our blackout poems and brought them to the protest! It was great to see the South Florida community unite against hate.
